The OPADE project has taken a major step forward in research into major depressive disorder. Part of the scientific team has published its first scientific paper in the journal Scientific Reports. The data obtained show that analysis of the HFD methylation pattern is a very promising approach to finding new biomarkers for ASD, suggesting that it could also be useful for characterising other human diseases, such as major depressive disorder, the target of OPADE.
This paper represents a significant advance in our understanding of how the brain-microbiota axis influences depression. The researchers hope that these findings will eventually lead to new treatment and prevention strategies.
